COA- NE Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

Call to Order: 1310

 

Attendance:    LCDR Erich Kleinschmit, President, LCDR Chris Vandertwyer, Vice-President, LT Tim Pappalardo, Treasurer , LCDR Mutatar “Mo” Shamsi, Outgoing President,  LCDR Karen McNabb- Noon, Outgoing Board Member, LCDR Kelly Valente, Secretary

 

I.                   Old Business

·         Elections

o       Mo stated that the membership should be emailed about the incoming executive board. CAPT Ames (COA Board of Directors Branch Liaison) and Jerry Farrell (National COA President) should also be contacted. He will provide Erich with the membership email list.

·         Natick Lab tour

o       CAPT Blakely, our contact with the Natick Labs has been reassigned to Rockville, MD. That tour might not work out anymore.

·         Dues

o       As mentioned at last membership meeting, local dues will increase from $5.00 to $10.00. This will help the branch allow funding to more activities. A letter should be sent out to membership explaining this.

 

II.                New Business

·         New Executive Board Orientation

o       Mo and Karen gave to the new executive board need to know information regarding their new offices

§         Membership Meeting

·         Hanscom Officer’s Club is a convenient location due to its location and rental fee. Mo has volunteered his membership for the branch to use for the room rental. Tim suggested investigating whether the branch could obtain a membership on it own.

·         Karen stated that CAPT Milner (Regional Representative to the Surgeon General) and other speakers produce a high turnout for meetings. Speakers like CDR Renee Joskow (OFRD) or Jerry Farrell might have their own budgets for speaking engagements.

·         Erich mentioned that COA-NE should offer an event once a season to the membership.

·         Tim mentioned topics like membership recruitment, Associate Recruiter Program and the National COA Conference should be discussed at the next membership meeting.

§         CAPT Milner

·         Erich is now the liaison to CAPT Milner. Mo mentioned that any statements made by CAPT Milner to the Executive Board need to be first sent out to higher ranking officers/ supervisors and then to membership.

§         Treasurer’s report

·         Karen reported that checking account is up to date at approximately $1800.00.

·         She also reported the savings account to be $350.00.

·         The low account is due to the COA supplied breakfast at the COA-NE sponsored BOTC.

·         Tim and Karen scheduled a meeting at other time to transfer the books over.

 

III.             Next Executive Board Meeting scheduled 2-25-05 at 1pm

·         Everyone is bring ideas for the next membership  meeting

·         Talk about who will represent COA-NE at the National COA Conference.

·         Talk about how to get a CCRF course here in NE.
